Darwin Nunez Hammers RB Leipzig With A Spectacular Four Goals As Liverpool Dominates

Liverpool trounced RB Leipzig 5-0 in Germany on Thursday to earn their second victory of the preseason.

The Reds had a strong start thanks to a goal from Mohamed Salah, but they didn't really take control of the game until Darwin Nunez was added at halftime. Four goals from Jurgen Klopp's talented new striker ended the friendly completely.

Liverpool has now won two games in a row after defeating Crystal Palace 2-0 last Friday in Singapore. In their first preseason match, the Reds were shockingly defeated 4-0 by longtime rivals Manchester United earlier this month in Bangkok. The biggest talking points from an amazing evening at the Leipzig Red Bull Arena are listed below.

Reds supporters would have hoped, but not anticipated, a victory over Leipzig. The Bundesliga team is accustomed to upsetting teams of Liverpool's caliber in the Champions League after winning the DFB-Pokal last season by defeating Freiburg on penalties in the final.

However, Klopp's team calmed its supporters with a fast start in the sweltering German weather. In the ninth minute, Salah was in the box with plenty of room after Liverpool pressured Leipzig into a defensive blunder. He placed the ball into the bottom corner with poise.

Liverpool is lucky,

The fact that there were no additional goals during the first half would have pleased Klopp. Angelino, a former Manchester City defender, unleashed a vicious effort, and prolific scorer Christopher Nkunku tested Adrian on several occasions as Leipzig came close to tying the score.

The latter possibility worried Klopp the most. When Ibrahima Konate clumsily attempted to control a loose ball, it ricocheted off his foot and into Nkunku's path. The Reds' poor first half came to a shoddy conclusion as they were unable to capitalize on Salah's first goal.

Keita wastes a chance.

Naby Keita's Liverpool career hasn't exactly gone according to plan, it's fair to say. Even though he moved from Leipzig four years ago and has since won six championships, including the Champions League and Premier League, he has never cemented himself as one of Klopp's top midfielders.

Keita had the chance to shine on Thursday night as he started against his old team. But the midfielder didn't chop down any trees, and it appears that this summer could be the last for him at Liverpool. His current contract only has one year left.

Nunez opens a transaction

At the half, Gulasci was replaced by Janis Blaswich, and the new goalie quickly established himself. Unfortunately for Leipzig, after a Liverpool throw-in dribbled into the box, the German goalkeeper gave up a penalty within two minutes.

In reality, the defense was poor, and Blaswich was forced to take down Luis Diaz. Nunez was given the opportunity to score his first goal for Liverpool as a result, and he did not let it pass him by. To make it 2-0, the £85 million player pounded the ball past Blaswich.

Nunez's second goal, though, captured everyone's attention. Trent Alexander Arnold fed the Uruguayan in the 51st minute, who comfortably placed the ball in the bottom corner

A striker who appears poised to make a major impact in the Premier League delivered the ideal finish.

Nunez didn't stop there, either. He quickly settled the contest after receiving a low cross from Harvey Elliott, and he still had time to make it 5-0. Liverpool supporters, get very excited for the upcoming season because you now have a new hero to cherish.
