The Dutch midfielder has been a long-term target for United this window, with Erik ten Hag making him the club's primary target, but the move appears to be no closer to happening.
Despite previously stating that he was flattered by their interest, reports from Spanish outlet Sport suggest that he has no desire to join the Red Devils and would rather join Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Former Aston Villa forward Gabby Agbonlahor has urged Chelsea to seize the initiative, telling talkSPORT Breakfast: 'I've been talking about Manchester United not being as strong a pull for a while now, and their fans don't like it.'
