La Liga giants join race for £500,000-a-week Man United striker
Cristiano Ronaldo, who wants to leave Manchester United this summer, could be interested in joining Atletico Madrid. Los Colchoneros are eager to sign a Portugal international but must first find a financially sustainable manner to do so.After a dismal season with the Red Devils in 2021/22, the 37-year-old striker's future has been uncertain since this summer. The Portuguese striker does not want to play in the Europa League in the latter years of his remarkable career and thus seeks a switch to a UCL squad.
After ruling out a return to Sporting, his desire to play in Europe's premier event surely narrows the list of probable destinations. PSG, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea have all been mentioned as potential bidders, but none appear to be interested.Bayern Munich has constantly stated their position and denied any potential approach for the Portuguese international. The Bundesliga powers and PSG were the first to rule out a transfer for Ronaldo, leaving Chelsea as a possible suitor.
Atletico Madrid have been keeping an eye on Cristiano's position as Diego Simeone looks for a successor for Luis Suarez, who departed the club this summer. However, Ronaldo's previous association with Real Madrid could be a stumbling hurdle in his return to La Liga with a move to Atletico. Nonetheless, the Manchester United center-forward is said to be interested in joining them.
