? CHAPTER NINETEEN?
AUTHOR'S POV
They remained silent till they heard the sound of the doorbell. They both ran to the sitting room and the person behind the door kept on pressing the doorbell. They suddenly became scared.. what if it was a kidnapper or someone dangerous? David didn't give it too much thought as he walked to the door and opened it to reveal his mother, she looked stressed and scared,she winced immediately she saw David and hugged him.
"Thank God you are okay, thank God! " She said and broke the hug, that was when she sighted Ariké behind David.
"Oh" she said surprisedly and paused,she diverted her gaze back to David "she has taken Diamond , I thought she was just bluffing.. she gave me 24 hours David, 24hours to have her deported or your sister would pay dearly"
"Mum be calm, here have a seat" he said holding her hands and guiding her to one of the couches, while Ariké remained silent.
"So who's this person we are talking about?"
"Peaches mother" his mother said and he gasped
"Why would she do that?" He asked confused and his mother sighed, instantly remembering the night of her graduation from highschool.
FLASH BACK
Valerie (David's mother) was pacing to and fro in the dining room awaiting her best friend Rose (Peaches mother).
Her mother who was seated on one of the dining chairs kept staring at her daughter, she has tried calming her down but it just wasn't working.
"Val Dear, it's going to be alright, you just have to explain everything to Rose and I'm sure she'd understand"
"No mama, I myself haven't even gotten used to the fact that I might not be able to go to Harvard or any other college for that matter, I'm not even used to the fact that I might die in a few months, this! Is me being calm mama"
"Honey, I know the pain in your heart trust me"
"No you don't mama, you get to live long even longer than I, so don't speak like you know what I'm going through" she replied and her mother sighed
"Alright, Dear I'll be in my room if you need me" her mother replied and went up the stairs to her room. Valerie couldn't hide the tears that had been lingering in her eyes anymore, she let them flow freely for a while before wiping her face.
Soon Rose came through the door into the dining with a huge smile plastered on her face.
"We made it out of high school Val!" She squealed hugging Valerie in the process but she stopped when she noticed the tears in Valerie's eyes.
"What's wrong?"
"I got into Harvard!" Valerie replied faking happiness
"Same here, oh my God!! We are meant to be best friends forever , you see even the universe approves" Rose said hugging her again but this time noticing how stiff her friend was, she stopped to look at her.
"Valerie for real what's wrong?"
"Come have a seat" Valerie said sniffing taking her friend to the sitting room, after they had sat down, Rose popped up the question again.
"What's wrong?"
"I have a disease.."
"What does that mean?"
"I have kidney failure.. the doctor said I might not be able to go to college or live for that long" Valerie said and Rose opened her mouth in shock
"This can't be happening..we have known each other for forever..and oh my God I'm not ready to loose you" Rose muttered and her eyes began to feel teary
"I know.. I'm not either, I want to go to college Rose, I want to have kids and I want our kids to know each other but what can I do?"
"No no! Can't you take a transplant?"
"My mum's is suffering from kidney stones, I'm not ready to loose her either"
"Oh God! And to think everything was going well.... can I donate mine?"
"W..what? You'd do that for me?"
"Yes"
"But that's not a decision you can make on your own Rose"
"Let's get to informing our parents then!"
BACK TO REALITY
"Rose did the donation for me, so it's like I have one of her organs inside me and we do make a joke about how we want our children to be with each other, I never knew she was this serious about the whole thing" David's mother said and David gasped, he couldn't believe that his mother had kept the whole thing as a secret from him and Diamond.
"Why don't we involve Dad in this?"
"No David, that can't happen, your father isn't aware of the whole thing and I'm not ready to let him know now"
"Mum we can't handle this situation ourselves and one thing I know for certain is Kathrine isn't getting deported, not under my watch"
"I don't want her to go either" she replied and Ariké looked at her with unbelief, their eyes met " I don't hate you Kathrine.. all I've ever wanted was peace.. since Rose wants to take it this far I say we give her a taste of her own medicine"
"And how do you intend on doing that mother?" David asked
"I've got a plan, but you would have to get her to a safe place"
"What ? I want to help" Ariké tried saying but David stopped her.
"Come on, we don't want anything bad happening to you, get ready we'll leave soon" David said
"But..."
"Go" he cut in.
*SOMEWHERE IN ENGLAND
Peaches mother arrived at the warehouse in her expensive car. She alighted and walked into it to meet with her Assassins.
"Hey Gustavo how's it going?"
"It's alright, we are taking care of her just as you ordered" he replied
"That's good" she said and walked up to Diamond who was tied up to a chair, she loosed the blindfold off her eyes and Diamond's gaze went to hers. She looked shocked at who it was.
"Mrs Mackenzie?" She called out as a smile crept up on Peaches mother's face.
"Hey Diamond darling I'm so sorry your mother had to put you through this, let's hope she makes the right call so you would be free in no time" Peaches mother said and Diamond shook her head sadly
"What did I ever do to you?" She asked and instantly they heard the sound of vehicles outside the warehouse.
"Guys, come on" Peaches mother said to her men and they stood alert with their guns facing the door , soon the door of the warehouse house was pushed down and three police officers walked in with David and his mother behind them. Peaches mother broke into an evil laughter
"You never learn Valerie do you?"
"Just stop these things while you have the time to and let my daughter go" Valerie said sternly
"You should have done what I told you to do... But I'm afraid now it's just too late" Peaches mother said and looked at her men "waste them" she said to the leader and they began to fire instantly.
Peaches mother brought out her personal gun and fired at her target and instantly a loud cry filled with pain was heard
"Nooooooo!" Someone screamed
