According to the Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong, out of the "many" public Senior High Schools (SHSs) in the Eastern Region, 25 SHSs had received food supplies from the Buffer Stock Company as of Thursday, July 21, 2022.

The Region received 500 gallons of 20-liter cooking oil from the Buffer Stock Company, 1,201 mackerel cartons, 2,838 bags of rice, and bags of sugar, which were then handed to these twenty-five schools.

The Regional Coordinating Council was alerted last week by the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) to the impending closure of Senior High Schools as a result of the local food scarcity situation.

Due to the food deficit, CHASS called off the Super Zonal sports event.

Seth Kwame Acheampong responded to the situation on 3FM's Sunrise on Friday, which was hosted by Alfred Ocansey, and said, "It's [the Super Zonal sports festival] not been cancelled. It has been suspended.

He said, "We have transitioned from typical campuses to camps, but as of yesterday, we have gotten some food supplies from Buffer Stock Company."

"Since this is a widespread issue, we are contacting CHASS together with the GES and Buffer Stock to see how they can handle these supplies."

When asked how many public SHSs in the area depend on government aid and how long these supplies of 500 gallons of 20-liter cooking oil, 1,201 mackerel cartons, 2,838 bags of rice, and bags of sugar would last, According to Mr. Acheampong, he is unable to provide the numbers at the time of the interview.

Although there are more than 25 SHSs in the area, only 25 have gotten the supplies to yet. Since I am not directly in charge of these schools, I am unable to provide a number at this time, but there are more than 25 SHSs in the area. Since the ideal course of action for an administrator is to guarantee that there is a supply, I am unable to predict how many weeks it will endure.
