The daily news analysis programme Ghana Tonight premieres on TV3 on Monday, July 25 at 10 PM.
General Manager of News at TV3, Michael Oti Adjei, gave an explanation of the show's purpose, saying that it provides context for analyses of events both locally and globally.
We are establishing a news programme, he added, "that allows us to be as heavy on the analytical side and provides greater context to analysis."
Ghana Tonight is hosted by former News 360 on TV3 anchor Alfred Ocansey.
When Mr. Oti Adjei was asked why he was chosen to be the anchor, he responded, "I think for a very long time he has been one of the leading news anchors in Ghana, I think he is the topmost news anchors in Ghana. Alfred reads the news here and conducts excellent 360 interviews, but this doesn't give him the chance to fully examine the topic.

He emphasised, "For us, he is the perfect guy to launch this show." Additionally, Alfred Ocansey described how unique this performance will be from others.
"People need knowledge; they need to know the precise reasons why something should worry them, not simply views. Why should they be concerned if Ghana contacts the IMF? Why should they be concerned if, for example, we decide to build a cathedral at the expense of another project?
"We need to have a discourse that people can understand at home, so instead of using complicated vocabulary or complex conversation, we will participate in normal, daily conversation.
"We're going to speak about inflation, but we're not going to get into the numbers all that much. I'll give you the numbers, but how does it effect you in your kitchen and your wallet?"
