Management member of Kumasi based club, Asante Kotoko has made shocking revelations about the resignation of Coach Prosper Nartey Ogum.
Patrick Osei Agyemang, Asante Kotoko management member has revealed why Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum resigned from his coaching job at the club.
Reacting to the decision of the coach, Patrick Osei Agyemang asserts the coach's resignation is because he is afraid to fail in the forthcoming Champions league campaign.
At the end of year meeting with the management and board of the club, the head coach announced his decision to discontinue as coach of the club amidst heated verbal exchanges, disagreements and attacks. The club's campaign in the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier league was successful with sixty-seven points at the top of the league table.
The Porcupine Warriors are expected to commence their preseason training and games in order to prepare for the preliminary stages of the Champions league play offs.
According to Emmanuel Newton Dasoden, Asante Kotoko administrative and operations manager, the top management members of the club disagreed with the head coach's decision to expel ten players and recruit seventeen new players. Again, further checks reveal, the head coach's salary is in arrears of four months and the club was conspicuously missing at his father's one week funeral observation, something which has angered the coach.
Countryman Songo on his show insisted that Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum opted out as coach of the club because he is afraid to fail in the Champions league and subsequent competitions.
"You can't disrespect the board and management at a meeting and we will come and beg you to come back, he said on Adom TV.
"He was just afraid to go to Africa and defend the title he won" Songo recounted.
Official communication from the club and coach with respect to the resignation is expected today. Coaches like C.K Akunnor and others are rumored to be contacted for the coaching job at Kotoko.
