The Rime Video crew for "Thursday Night Football" is almost set, less than two months before the first regular season match.
Kaylee Hartung has been rented by Amazon as a while reporter while Andrew Whitworth and Aqib Talib have signed as contributors to pregame coverage, first round and postgame.
Prime video regular season debut as an exclusive home from the Primetime package came on September 15 when Kansas City hosted the Los Angeles Chargers.
"This is an extraordinary opportunity to start from the beginning, to be really carrying a number of new perspectives," said Marie Donoghue, Vice President Amazon of Global Sports Video. "We have great veterans who are at the top of their profession while in the same time, bringing an extraordinary personality that has just left the game. So it will bring the current unique input."
Hartung returned to sports after five years with ABC News and CNN. He was previously a side reporter for ESPN, especially for SEC soccer and college basketball.
In a telephone interview, Hartung said he did not leave sports five years ago, but moved to become a more versatile reporter.
"The various opportunities are cool, and I think it only helps better prepare me for the next step," he said. "This is the next great opportunity for me to tell great stories. Tell me whether it's news or sports, it's the same craft. And that is very interesting about this opportunity, because it is the biggest story in sports, and we talk about NFL and primetime games that will have so many views about it. "
Hartung will be paired with a play-play-play broadcaster Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit analyst for game coverage. Hartung and Herbstreit conducted several joint events for ESPN, but have never been part of the same weekly crew until now at Prime Video.
While Herbstreit will continue with college soccer for ESPN, the last day of Hartung at ABC News was last Friday.
"I have heard the excitement of the two of them about being part of building something new. And I think for us, to do that together -the same time will be a bond experience, for sure, "said Hartung from Michaels and Herbstreit. "Just learning from them, the way they do their work and handle their business, it is an extraordinary learning opportunity for me."
Whitworth, who ended the NFL 16 -year career by helping to lead Los Angeles Rams to the Super Bowl championship, joined Ryan Fitzpatrick and Richard Sherman as part of the studio crew who played last season. Former offensive tackle and recipient of Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year received a lot of interest from the network before deciding the main video.
"I was really excited when I got the chance to get a little vision about what they wanted to do - to be a little innovative and change it and create new and interesting experiences. That is there with whom I am in creating culture and atmosphere and really -really experience, "said Whitworth.
Talib played 12 years on NFL - including winning the Super Bowl title with Denver - before retiring after the 2019 season. He has done several NFL games for Fox for the last two seasons.
It was announced earlier that Charissa Thompson and Tony Gonzalez will also be in Pregame, the first round coverage and postgame.
Donoghue said the plan was still completed for some alternative feedbacks that would be available during the match. Prime Video will have several training games before bringing pre -season games between San Francisco 49ers and Houston Texas on August 25
