The Ghana Football Association have confirmed the date and venue for the 'champions of champions'tournament that will climax the 2021/2022 league season between league giants Kumasi Asante Kotoko and FA cup winners Accra Hearts of Oak.
The Ghana Premier league giants Asante Kotoko will lock horns with arch rivals and FA cup champions Accra Hearts of Oak in the Champions of Champions match on Sunday September, 4 2022 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The tournament is a curtain raiser for the 2022/2023 Ghana Premier league season which is expected to begin on the weekend of 9th September, 2022.
Porcupine warriors topped the league table with 67 points and will seek to put the final nail in the coffin against their arch rivals and record FA cup holders Accra Hearts of Oak in the battle for supremacy in Kumasi. Accra Hearts of Oak defeated Asante Kotoko in a lone goal victory for the President's cup, an all draw game in Accra and a defeat for the Accra based club in Kumasi in the just ended season.
In other news, the head coach of the Kumasi based porcupine warriors is reported to have resigned after a verbal disagreement with board members of the club. In a related information, the board of the club have urged supporters of the club to disregard completely the news flying around on various social media platforms.
It is not confirmed yet the current status of Coach Prosper Nartey Ogum in the club's structure, but reports indicate that former coach of the club, C. K Akonorr has been tipped to replace the former WAFA coach.
