Erik ten Hag, Manchester United's new manager, wants to win a trophy and get the team back into the top four after finishing sixth in the Premier League last year.

Erik ten Hag is leaving his mark on Manchester United

In preseason, Jadon Sancho has made an impression.

In anticipation of the upcoming Premier League season, Jadon Sancho says that Manchester United appears to be a "completely different team" under new manager Erik ten Hag.

Under former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and temporary manager Ralf Rangnick, United had a disastrous season in which they finished sixth in the league and missed out on Champions League football. They also went five years without taking home a trophy.

Ten Hag, who began working as Rangnick's replacement earlier this summer, is having a strong preseason. They have won easily against Crystal Palace, Melbourne Victory, and Liverpool. On Saturday, they play Aston Villa in Perth.

Sancho told United's website, "We have the same guys this pre-season, but it just seems like a whole different team. I do think that's something we're working on, and I feel like we're getting better." The manager places a lot of importance on team building, having fun as a group, and engaging in activities like team dinners and similar things. So, yes, it is beneficial.

"The training, especially in pre-season, has been a real positive and all the lads have taken on board what he's saying," the England international continued. "You can see it in the games, where we're creating a lot more chances, keeping the ball more, and just making good things out of the style we're playing."

Sancho commented on Ten Hag's approach by saying: "We've been meeting with the manager frequently and understanding how he wants us to play, and there's obviously been a major sign of everyone taking it on board and us creating what he wants to happen.

Erik ten Hag is leaving his mark on Manchester United

Manchester United is becoming more and more like Erik ten Hag.

As I previously stated, "You can see in the games with how we're playing and there being a lot more structure and possibilities to score, as well as we're maintaining the ball more as well as being productive [with it]."

Sancho, 22, moved to United from Borussia Dortmund one year ago in a £73 million deal. Following his time in Germany, when he made just 104 Bundesliga games while tallying 38 goals and 51 assists, a lot was expected of the Manchester City youth alumnus.

Sancho, though, struggled to maintain his success in England, recording just three goals and three assists in 29 Premier League games. After scoring against Liverpool and Palace, United supporters are anticipating seeing the winger at his best this next season.

After completing a full preseason, Sancho believes he will be more prepared to succeed in the Premier League over the course of the following ten months. Due to England's participation in the Euro 2020 final, he didn't report for duty at United until August of last year.

Sancho continued, "This is my first pre-season with United because last year I couldn't complete the entire pre-season with the club due to an ear ailment, which was a bit unpleasant at the time and [meant] a lack of fitness and awareness of how the players play.

"However, this season, I feel much more at ease, and scoring in preseason is a confidence booster for myself.I'm hoping to carry that into the season and maintain it.
