Raphinha: FC Barcelona ‘Are Better Than Real Madrid’

Raphinha, a new FC Barcelona signing, stated that the club has a better team than arch rivals Real Madrid.

The Brazilian international made his Catalan debut in Miami on Tuesday night after arriving from Leeds United in a deal worth more than €60 million with add-ons agreed last week.

Allowed to start the first match of Barcelona's US tour against Inter Miami, the 25-year-old rewarded coach Oscar Hernandez's faith in him - who was filling in for brother Xavi, who was unable to make the trip owing to passport concerns - by scoring his first goal in Blaugrana colors in the 25th minute.Following the 6-0 win, which included goals from Gavi, Ansu Fati, and positional rival Ousmane Dembele, the Porto Alegre native made comments that will no likely delight his fans and upset others. With Barcelona's fiercest rivals from the mainland waiting for them in Las Vegas on July 24, Raphinha remarked, "We are better than Real Madrid, and of course I want to meet them."

Raphinha praised his new teammates, saying that "playing with these players at Barca makes everything simpler."

"I'm still adjusting to the team's game, but they're assisting me, and I aim to assist them as well," he explained.

Raphinha was one of Europe's most-wanted forwards until he switched allegiances last Friday, with Chelsea's interest jeopardizing Barca's approach, but he remains certain that he selected the right destination and was correct in holding out for his ideal club."Barca has a terrific team with very skilled players, and I believe they have a bright future," he remarked.

"Barca is in good hands and needs to compete for major titles," he insisted.

With Xavi now having choices in practically every area of the field, defender Eric Garcia observed that competition for positions "always makes everyone better."

"We have many elite players in various positions, and they are all duplicated with high-level players," the ex-Manchester City star explained.

"Everyone will go out of their way to participate. Competition is beneficial to both the players and the team "He finished.
