A RECORDS OF 193 ROAD ACCIDENTS FROM JANUARY TILL DATE IN THE VOLTA REGION OF GHANA

Statistics from the Regional Volta Branch of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) revealed that the region had recorded 193 road accident cases from January to June 2022.

Around 133 people suffered various degrees of injury and in the same period.

He added that a total of 46 pedestrians were torn down.

Comparison with data for January to June 2021 shows a general reduction in all cases.

The number of accidents was reduced by 21.9% from 247 in 2021 to 193 in 2022. Also, a reduction of 24.8% was recorded in vehicles involved in accidents from 423 in 2021 to 318 in 2022.

 

There was a 25% reduction in death from 64 in 2021 to 48 in 2022; 50% reduction in injured people from 268 in 2021 to 133 in 2022 and 13.2% of pedestrian reductions was torn down.

In 193 accidents from January to June 2022, monthly records in the region showed that in March, the region recorded the highest cases of accidents with 41 cases followed by April with 37 cases and June with 33 cases.

February noted the least number of cases with 24 road collisions.

Comparison with data for January to June 2021 shows a reduction in accidents for all months in 2022 except June. February recorded the highest reduction in cases with 46% from 45 in 2021 to 24 in 2022 with June to one month that recorded an increase in accidents from 28 in 2021 to 33 in 2022.

As many as 48 lives missing in the first half of 2022 with March recorded the highest number of deaths with 16; February 10 recording while probably recorded at least three deaths.

 

In the distribution of the road traffic case situation in the region, the Ho Division recorded the highest number of cases in the region with 112 accidents, 187 vehicles involved in the accident, 18 people were killed with 58 injured and 18 Knockdown pedestrians.

The Tongu division recorded the highest number of people who were killed with 18 the same as the Ho Division.

Hohoe Division, KPANDO Division and Ketu Division recorded 7 cases in the first half of the least year.

The Hohoe Division recorded no death in the first half of this year.

The Ho Division further recorded the highest number of accidents with 58% of all accidents in the region with Hohoe, KPANDO and Ketu Division recorded 7 crashes each representing 3.6% of cases in the region.

The Ho Division recorded a 15% decline in accidents from 132 in 2021 to 112 in 2022 with the Keta division recorded a decrease in 11% in accidents from 35 in 2021 to 31 in 2022.

The Ketu Division recorded a decrease in 65% in accidents from 20 in 2021 to 7 in 2022 while the Hohoe Division registered an increase of 75% from 4 in 2021 to 7 in 2022.

The KPando Division also recorded an increase in crash 40% from 5 in 2021 to 7 in 2022.
