Ghana also took the most peaceful in the world in the index published by the Institute of Economics and Peace (IEP), a group of independent, not partisan and non -profit experts dedicated to changing the approach of the world to peace as a Positive, measured and tangible measure of human well -being and progress.
The GPI covers 163 countries that comprise 99.7 percent of the world's population, using 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators of highly respected sources, and measures the state of peace in three domains: the level of social security and security; the scope of the current national and international conflict; and the degree of militarization.
The best classified sub -Saharan countries were Mauricio (1st), Ghana (2nd), Gambia (3rd), Botswana (4th) and Sierra Leone (5th).
Sub -Saharan Africa registered a slight fall in tranquility in the 2022 GPI, with the average score of the country deteriorated by 0.022 points, or one percent. Of the 44 countries of the region, 21 improved in score, while 22 deteriorated and one remained unchanged.
The region is less peaceful than the global average on security and ongoing conflict domains, but more peaceful than the global average in the militarization domain.

Two of the five countries with the greatest deterioration in tranquility were Russia and Ukraine, Guinea, Burkina Faso and Haiti joined.
Europe is the most peaceful region in the world, where there are seven of the ten most peaceful countries.
Five of the nine regions of the world became more peaceful during the past year. The largest improvements occurred in the region of South Asia and the Middle East and North Africa (Mena).
The result of southern Asia was driven by a substantial improvement in the domain of ongoing conflicts, since many countries experienced reductions in the number of deaths from internal conflicts
