PAÌNS IN BEING AN ORPHAN

EPISODE1

My name is paìn. Yes I changed my name from kikelomo to paìn.The daughter of Mr and Mrs olowolayemo - Only the rich one the world know- that's the meaning of the name. This is because my father - may his soul rest in perfect peace was very rich when he was alive. For me to put "very", You should have known that the wealth was more than owning a car and a house only. He built many houses and had many companies he owned. My mother was a trader then, she travels everywhere to supply goods and buy. She was well known. I attended one of the most expensive schools in kwara state. My dad wished I went to study abroad but my mum didn't listen to him because I was the only child they gave birth to. But all was then. The story changed when my father got sick. We did everything we could to cure the sickness but all our efforts were in vain.

After many test we run and everything we did, We couldn't find the cause of the sickness and what to use to cure it. On this strange sickness we spent all his money on. We sold his properties, companies, cars and everything to cure it but our efforts and everything resulted in vain. When we couldn't afford the hospital bill again, The doctors had to sent us away. We have owe them much money already. But they said we should be going even without paying their money. We had used the house we were living in to borrow money from bank, So before we could leave the hospital, Bank had taken over the house. So sad!. We had to rent a house with the little change with us. When our rent due and we couldn't pay another money, The landlord sent us out shamèfully. So that was how we took my father back to our village..We started living in the house my father's grandpa and grandma were living when they were alive. My father's parents had d!ed too. They lived with us till they d!ed. Rather the sickness to cure, It kept hitting my father excruciatingly. After few days we got to the village, My father d!ed and we bur!ed him. Ever since that day, Life has been very hard for me and my mum.

After months my father d!ed,Me and my mum accepted our fate and then we returned back to kwara state. For more than a month, We were searching for a work that could be feeding us but sàdly we couldn't get any. Then one day, Me and my mum visited one of her friends she once helped when we were rich. We saw her from afar counting money. As I saw her, I beamed, Thinking she would helped us, since my mum has once helped her.

But immediately as she saw us, she packed the money inside her bag and then started acting as if she was broke financially. My mother sought for her assistance but she said she was also striving for living.

As we left there, My mum started crying. But I had to be using my hand to wipe her tears. I don't like to see my mum crying. Then she turned to me

"Do you remember her? " my mum asked me, with tears rolling down from her eyes.

"Yes I do. But please stop crying mummy! " I said, as I started crying too.

"Why are you also crying? " my mum asked me.

"Am I crying?, " I asked.

"Yes you're " mum replied.

I quickly wiped my face and the tears was much than I expected. I was teary.

"I've stopped crying. Please stop too" I said

Then my mum used her hand to wipe her tears too.

"Who do you know her as? " my mum asked me.

"Was she not your friend you gave 500k to start a business? " I asked.

"Yes. " she nodded.

"Don't worry! She'll fàll" I cùrsed.

As I said this, My mum quickly used her hand to cover my mouth and said

"Don't say that again" she warned me

"Okay, Mum" I nodded.

After few days, my mum started working as a waitress in a local restaurant. She earns just token money to feed me and put something on the table. Whenever she comes back home, She would make sure that I had slept and then she would started crying. I knew she does that but I thought she was still remembering my dad and how the world turned unfair to us all of a sudden.

One day, I went to where my mum was working as a waitress in that local restaurant. I met her holding her cheeks and the woman she was working with was in front of her. I couldn't predict what was happening. So the woman said, Talking to my mum.

"If you fail to behave well again, I'll give you another slap".

As I heard this, I trembled. Then I moved close to my mum and asked her pantingly

"Mum, She slapped you? " I asked.

"No oh. I wasn't the one she was referring to" my mum said, as she smiled.

"Why then are you holding your cheeks? " I asked.

"Nothing " she responded.

I immediately removed her hand from her cheek to check if there was marks or a mark. As I checked it, I saw five marks there showing a sign of being brutàlly slapped.

"Ehn ehn what if I do? " the woman thundered at me

"You slapped my mum" I asked as tears rolled down from my eyes.

Then she turned to my mum again and gave her another slap.

My mum screamed this time

"Yeeee!!!! " my mum screamed..
