African football clubs rarely face off against their European counterparts because they rarely compete in the same competition, with the exception of the FIFA Club World Cup, which does not always guarantee African clubs face off against European clubs.

Friendly matches are another way for clubs from both continents to compete against each other. And such a friendly match occurred years ago, involving two of the world's most successful football clubs.

On 5 August 2001, Egyptian club Al Ahly stunned Spanish club Real Madrid with a 1-0 victory in a friendly match at Egypt's Cairo Stadium. Real Madrid's starting lineup included stars such as Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo, Raul, Ivan Helguera, Claude Makelele, and Roberto Carlos.

Sunday Chibuike of Nigeria scored the game's lone goal, giving Egypt a famous victory over the Spanish giants.

C. Ronaldo to announce his return very soon

The club is hoping to learn more about Ronaldo's return to Carrington and his current situation.

This week, Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to provide an update on his situation.

The Portuguese star missed United's tour of Thailand and Australia after requesting to leave the club. United accepted his absence from preseason, citing 'family reasons.'

United will face Brighton in the first match of the 2022/23 Premier League season in two weeks. Erik ten Hag is preparing for this game without Cristiano Ronaldo.

I concentrate on the players who are present and doing exceptionally well.

The team will fly from Perth to Manchester on Sunday, with the manager approving a day off on Monday.

United have had a productive preseason so far under new manager ten Hag.

In Bangkok, the Dutchman's team defeated Liverpool 4-0, Melbourne Victory 4-1, and Crystal Palace 3-1, and drew 2-2 with Aston Villa in Perth.

Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martnez, new signings, were not included in these games but will be added to the squad on Tuesday ahead of the weekend friendlies.

The team will face Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid in Oslo on July 30th, and Vallecano at Old Trafford on July 31st.

Whether or not Ronaldo's arrival is imminent, the club is hoping for clarity soon.

According to James Ducker of The Telegraph, Ronaldo's camp has been humbled by Richard Arnold's approach to the situation and appreciates United's respect.

Arnold took over as CEO in February, succeeding Ed Woodward.

Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo's agent, has been actively seeking a suitable club to sign his star client but has so far received no viable offers.

In a May in-house interview, the number seven stated that he is "very happy" to be returning to Old Trafford next season.

He also stated that he was "ecstatic" that Erik ten Hag had been appointed as the new manager.
