Anyidoho breaks down, weeps at Atta Mills’ 10th anniversary celebration

Koku Anyidoho, founder of the Atta Mills Institute, could barely hold back tears on Sunday morning as hymns were sung at a thanksgiving service commemorating the late president, John Evans Atta Mills', 10th anniversary.

Koku Anyidoho, the late head of state's aide until his death, sobbed uncontrollably as the choir sang a hymn.

Another person at the event eventually consoled the visibly distressed Koku Anyidoho.

Mr. Anyidoho has, among other things, expressed his displeasure with the actions and/or inactions of some National Democratic Party members, including his former boss.

He claims that the party ignored the former president and paid no attention to honoring his memory until the ruling government took on the task.

Mr. Anyidoho stated at the event on Sunday, July 24, 2022, that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) collaborated with the Atta-Mills Institute to build and renovate the Asomdwee park, which had been abandoned by his own party, the NDC.

"To the point, and for reasons that cannot be adequately expressed, the government at the time failed to build Asomdwee Park to befit the status of our late President's final resting place."

“To the glory of God, in 2020, His Excellency President Akufo-Addo Dankwa gave the go-ahead for full construction of the Asomdwee Park to commence,” he said.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his Vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia joined several other Ghanaians at the 10th Thanksgiving and memorial service held in honour of the late John Evans Atta Mills.

The service, which took place at the Asomdwee Park in Accra on Sunday, July 24, 2022, saw many people including government officials thronging the grounds to commemorate the day celebration.

A monument of the late President was unveiled and the renovated park was commissioned by the president.

Other persons including Former Ningo-Prampram Member of Parliament, Enoch Teye Mensah, Former NDC members, Allotey Jacobs, and Samuel Koku Anyidoho made an appearance at the event.
