Jesse Lingard reportedly earns £115,000 a week plus incentives, making him Forest's highest-paid player. Lingard had the option to sign with West Ham after the Hammers offered what they believed to be a reasonable and competitive offer for the forward.

Jesse Lingard has signed a one-year contract with Nottingham Forest.

The newly promoted Premier League team West Ham made a sizable offer to sign the former Manchester United forward, but he turned it down. The one-year contract does not include a year extension option.

The 29-year-old's representatives had been in talks with at least four different clubs in recent days after Lingard left Old Trafford last month following the expiration of his United contract.

West Ham wanted to sign Lingard, who scored nine goals and registered five assists for the Hammers during a successful loan spell in 2021.

But Lingard has rejected the chance to re-join the Irons despite what West Ham felt was a fair and competitive offer to the Englishman.

David Moyes' side were not interested in getting involved in a bidding war with other clubs and are now focusing on other targets.

Sky Sports News has been told Lingard becomes Forest's highest earner, with his deal thought to be worth £115,000 per week plus incentives.

Jesse Lingard's decision to choose Nottingham Forest over West Ham United has been backed by former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor.

The England international joined Steve Cooper's side on Thursday in a one-year deal reportedly worth upwards of £200,000-a-week following his release by Manchester United. Lingard became the Reds' 11th signing of the summer and links up with former Old Trafford teammate Dean Henderson.

Reports had suggested the 29-year-old was in line to re-join West Ham United after enjoying a short loan spell at the London Stadium in 2021. Lingard scored nine goals and registered five assists in 16 games for David Moyes' side, but it is thought his wage demands were too high for the Hammers to accept.
