The 2022 VivaTech technology startups and innovation fair kicked off here on Wednesday, and will last until Saturday. More than 2,000 exhibitors participated in the event. VivaTech is the world's rendezvous for startups and leaders to celebrate innovation and the power of technology in transforming business and society. (Xinhua/Gao Jing) Chinese tech giant Huawei launched its genius recruitment program on its official hiring platform on WeChat on Friday, the second time in a year as the firm accelerated recruiting gifted youth from all over the world amid external pressures and an ongoing US government trade ban. Earlier, the company launched its first recruitment program for genius level talent on April 25. The recruitment plan for the genius employees does not demand any specific origin or institute the applicants graduate from but asks the applicants to meet some major points relevant to the tech sector. For instance, the applicant must have special achievements in mathematics, computers, physics, intelligent manufacturing, chemistry, chips, material and other technology-related fields. 26,000 new graduates joined Huawei in 2020 and 2021, including 300 genius youth who have contributed to its key business areas, promote the technology and software innovation, top executives from Huawei revealed at earnings conference for the 2021 financial results in March. In 2019, Huawei Founder Ren Zhengfei launched the "genius youngsters" program which gained public attention with the highest annual salary reaching 2 million yuan ($296,000). Ren said on the company’s internal platform in June that the most important thing for the genius employees is their ability to solve problems rather than comprehensive quality. The launch of the eye-catching "genius youngsters" program would help the company gain public attention so as to attract more talents to help the overall development of the company in the next stage, Xiang Ligang, the director-general of the Beijing-based Information Consumption Alliance, told the Global Times on Monday. “The recruitment requirements for talents cover the whole direction of Huawei's development to the next step. In addition to traditional communication business, Huawei is expected to integrate various industries such as new materials, new energy, intelligent manufacturing and artificial intelligence,” Xiang said. Huawei rotating chairman Hu Houkun said at a digital forum on Saturday that the current gap for digitally literate talent in China has exceeded 11 million. In the next three years, Huawei will further train more than 3 million new computing talents through the integration of industry and education and collaborative education, Hu said. According to the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the demand for intelligent manufacturing talents will reach 9 million and the shortage of talents will be 4.5 million by 2025.
