ARIKÉ'S POV
I had arrived at my hostel to meet Ha-eun sleeping, I tiptoed to my bed and sat down. My heart has been beating ever since I left David's house such that I was even scared to come to the hostel. I had to branch the restaurant close to our hostel and I say down there for minutes before coming to the hostel
I checked my phone for the umpteenth time and yet there was no message from anyone. It felt so scary to be unaware of how things were going. I sighed what if something bad had happened to David? I gasped and knelt down on my knee and began to pray for the protection of David and his mother. I know it still feels weird that David's mother said she didn't hate me and it was unbelievable.
Once I was done with praying I sat down back on my bed and my phone began to ring, I looked at the screen it was Ajoké calling, I quickly wiped my face and forced a fake smile as I picked the phone call.
"Sister mi, how's everything?" I asked
"Everything is alright oh, hope you haven't forgotten about the introduction tomorrow?"
"Introduction? Yee! I remember oh my God!" I replied
"Ariké is everything alright, are you okay?" She asked with a frown
"Yes nau, I'll be..I mean I'm fine yes I'll watch it live from here" I said faking another smile
"Are you sure you are okay?"
"Yes sis, I am fine oh" I said with a nervous laugh
"Alright then, I'll be with you soon next month for the proper wedding, I know you haven't forgotten"
"Yay!! Ooh yes you told me, em and yes I can't wait, I'll talk to you later sis"
"Alright bye" she replied and hesitated a little before hanging up the phone call. I sighed deeply and stood up from the bed, it was already an hour since David dropped me off and there had been no update on how things were going. As I was pacing around in my room, my phone began to ring again, I took it with shaky hands and saw that it was David that was calling, I hurriedly picked it up.
"Hey .. what's up?"
"I'm currently in the hospital"
"Jesus! What went wrong? Did anyone get hurt?"
"My mum... She's currently in the ITU"
"Oh my God! Send me the address I'll be there in a jiffy" I said and hurriedly took any one of my bags with me , as I was about to leave the hostel I heard Ha-eun's voice
"Where are you off to?" She asked
"I'll be back Ha-eun, alright? Bye" I said and left the hostel, I took the first taxi I found and followed the address that David texted me.
AUTHOR'S POV
Diamond and David were seated in the waiting room , waiting for any medical official to pass by them so they can ask about their mother.
"How did we even get ourselves into this mess , we were very peaceful and happy" Diamond blurted out
"It's mother's story to tell not mine" David replied
"Wow.."
"What?"
"I can't believe how selfish you are right now" she said staring at him intently
"Diamond don't even begin to talk about selfishness, if you had also waved Peaches away when you knew what she did to me, we might not be in this present situation" he countered
"Ooh don't you dare David Richmond! You were not the one that was captured and taken captive"
"I know you..."David began to say but stopped when he saw Ariké approach him, he stood up and went to hug her.
"I'm so glad you are here" he whispered into her ear and a sad smile formed on her face. She broke the hug and went over to where Diamond was.
"Hey" she said and Diamond without replying hugged her too. "I thought something bad had happened to you" Diamond said
"Me too" Ariké replied and they hugged again.
"How's mum's health?" Ariké asked
"We aren't sure yet,we haven't seen any of the Doctors" David replied and Ariké sat down
"What really happened?" She asked
"Well we hired some police men to accompany us there and when we got there, there was a cross fire and most of her Assassins got shot but Peaches mother shot mum herself"
"Oh my God! And where is Peaches mother now?"
"Sadly she escaped with the leader of her gang" David replied and Ariké sighed
"We would get her, she can't run for ever" Ariké said reassuringly.
"Er.. the Richmond's?" Someone said and they all looked up to see a doctor, they stood up instantly.
"Yes sir?" David answered
"We have taken the bullet out, you can see her now" he said and they nodded.
"I'll go first.. I guess" David offered and they all agreed, David followed the doctor into the room where his mother was and Ariké sat down with Diamond.
"I don't know what you did to him" Diamond said and Ariké looked at her.
"What?"
"He's so into you, it's so rare to see David hung up on someone like that"
"Thanks er.... I guess" Ariké replied and they smiled at each other.
*AT PEACHES HOME
Peaches had just arrived from shopping and was now trying the clothes she bought on when her mother barged into the house.
"Mum what's wrong?' she asked her mother , refusing to believe that she was scared.
"We need to move" her mother said rushing into her room.
"Mum where are we going?"
"Stop asking these D*mn questions and get your things" her mother shouted and Peaches ran into her room and packed the few things she could and soon she was downstairs.
"Come on, let's get going" her mother said urging her outside and Peaches obeyed.
They got into the car and her mother began to drive.
"Mum.. why do we keep traveling from one state to another?"
"Just be quiet, I'll explain things to you later, whenever you sight a police man, put on your sunglasses' her mother warned and Peaches nodded still confused.
