Cristiano Ronaldo already has declared his 'loyalty' to Atletico Madrid.

Atletico Madrid is still linked with a move for Cristiano Ronaldo, but despite the fact that a deal would severely damage his reputation, previous comments suggest it isn't an issue.

Cristiano Ronaldo is in danger of severing ties with Manchester United and Real Madrid fans this summer, as a move to Atletico Madrid remains a possibility.

Ronaldo left Real Madrid in 2018 to join Juventus, but he left as perhaps the greatest player in the club's history. After illuminating the Premier League as a teenager with United, he joined Real Madrid in 2009, but returned to Old Trafford to cement his legacy with the Red Devils.

Ronaldo, on the other hand, appears set to leave United after just a year, as his future remains uncertain following a disastrous Premier League season. Despite assurances of his loyalty, Ronaldo has previously stated that he is unconcerned about 'haters,' and will always focus on his team.

Ronaldo left his childhood club Sporting Lisbon in 2003 to join United, where he quickly established himself as one of the best players in the world under Sir Alex Ferguson. The Portuguese star even demonstrated his loyalty by promising to stay for another season after Real Madrid came calling, and then keeping his word by delaying his departure.

The now five-time Ballon d'Or winner is a Madrid and Manchester United legend who has yet to enrage fans with any transfer move. But his loyalty has been put to the test in the last year.

Initially, Ronaldo was linked with a move to Manchester City before returning to United, and some fans even started burning shirts in anticipation of their former hero joining their bitter rivals. However, Ronaldo

Ronaldo is among the most celebrated Champions League players in history, and his opportunity to keep that legacy has put him at odds with United, as the Portuguese star must move in order to compete. Earlier in the transfer window, Ronaldo had been linked with a move to Chelsea.

Again, reports have not materialized, but his protracted exit strategy so close to the start of the Premier League season has already turned United fans against him. And, following new reports that he may join former Madrid rivals Atletico Madrid, Los Blancos fans are preparing to riot.

However, Ronaldo stated in 2017 that he is unconcerned about what the 'haters' think as long as he does what is best for his career. "I just don't care about that (hate), I just try to do my job, try to be myself," Ronaldo said.

"Haters, all have them, not just me. It's a necessary evil. Every night, I go to bed in a good mood, happy, and I sleep well. I'm not here to please my detractors; I'm here to please my fans because they support me."

Ronaldo has a devoted following, and as the most followed man on Instagram, it's clear that whatever he does will be met with adoration. With a move proving more difficult than expected, Atletico may be one of Ronaldo's only options, though it will come at a cost.

The 37-year-reputation old's may have taken a hit at United this summer, but he will always be remembered.

That did leave Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, unless Ronaldo is willing to accept a significant wage cut and return home to Lisbon. That would be the most popular and safest move in terms of reputation, but Ronaldo's standards and personal goals may prevent it.

There is a lot to consider for Ronaldo this summer, and even Ten Hag may be weighing his options after Anthony Martial excelled in his absence during pre-season. But, with the Premier League starting in less than two weeks and Ronaldo still yet to train with United, he's not giving himself much time to make a decision.
