David Raum to complete surprise RB Leipzig move in the next few days

RB Leipzig have burst forward in the race to sign David Raum from Hoffenheim. The only realistic destinations for the left-back were rumoured to be Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund this summer. However, out of nowhere, the Red Bull club have almost finalised a deal to bring the player over to their side. The transfer fee agreed is unclear as of right now, but an amount between €30 to €40 million was being discussed prior to RB Leipzig’s intervention in the transfer race. According to Fabrizio Romano, the left-back is set to join RB Leipzig in the coming days after many months of speculation. Many clubs asked for his signature, but he has chosen his next destination as Leipzig and the move will be made official very soon. In only six months with Hoffenheim, the player signed an extension until 2026. But that hasn’t stopped the club from agreeing a transfer fee to let him go. This past season, he scored three goals and provided 13 assists in the Bundesliga, establishing himself as one of the best attacking full-backs in the league. As a result, he was also called up to Hansi Flick’s Germany national team for the Nations League. At his new club, David Raum will be competing with Angelino for game time, who is also a very good player. The competition could help boost both their levels ahead of the World Cup later this year.

‘Outstanding’ £30m star to snub West Ham after talks for two reasons

Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images Hoffenheim defender David Raum is set to snub interest from West Ham United to sign for RB Leipzig over his aims to play Champions League football and go to the 2022 World Cup. That’s according to Sky Germany, who report Raum has attracted a wealth of elite interest this summer. But he is prepared to accept a move to the Red Bull Arena as it will provide a chance to earn regular minutes and force his way into Hansi Flick’s plans at the World Cup. The 24-year-old has been a constant member of the Mannschaft unit since his maiden call-up in September. But Raum has only started seven of his nine appearances from a possible 13 games, as Flick considers who his best left-back option will be at the Qatar tournament. Photo by Alex Grimm/Getty Images RB Leipzig entered into advanced negotiations with Hoffenheim for Raum’s arrival late on Thursday evening. The transfer is now on the verge of competition, although no contracts have been signed as of yet, for a fee of around €30-35m (£25.5-30m) plus future add-ons. Hoffenheim expect Raum to seal his switch to Saxony soon as Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund did not advance their interest. Manchester United also held some discussions to sound out the conditions needed to sign the Nurnberg native, but did not persist the case. Raum has been sought-after among Champions League sides this summer after offering 13 assists and three goals in 32 Bundesliga games last term. West Ham have also spoken with Hoffenheim over their defender, who joined for free last year after leaving Greuther Furth.
