The High Court in Accra trying two teenagers for the alleged murder of a 10-year-old boy for rituals in Kasoa, in the Central Region, yesterday adjourned the case to October 10, 2022.

This was after the Registrar of the Court had informed the Presiding Judge, Justice Lydia Osei Marfo that persons impaneled as jurors for the trial of the case were not readily available as they were engaged in other cases within the court premises.

The names of the jurors were forwarded to the court by the Ghana Post and the Department of Social Welfare upon request. The court is expected to impanel a seven-member jury for the trial.

Justice Marfo ordered that the names forwarded to the two institutions as possible jurors are summoned on the adjourned date.

“As we face challenges with the summoning of possible jurors we are unable to impanel the jury as envisaged.

Let the registrar write to the men and women whose particulars have been provided on the two letters summoning them on the next adjourned date on time,” she ruled.

The two accused teenagers, a 15-year-old and an 18-year-old (both names withheld), first accused and second accused, respectively, are facing charges of conspiracy and murder of Ismael Mensah Abdallah.

They are alleged to have murdered Abdallah on April 3, last year, for ritual purposes, after they lured him into an uncompleted building.

They allegedly killed Abdallah after striking him several times with a club and a cement block.

While the 15-year-old boy has confessed their culpability in the murder, his alleged accomplice, the 18-year-old, has denied any involvement.
