The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has commissioned a 3-classroom block for Tebrebe M/A Primary School in Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality in the Western Region.

During a short ceremony of handing over the equipment, the executive director of the foundation, Dr. Dominic Eduah, said: "The facility is one of 141 classroom blocks funded by GNPC in several communities across the country under its School Infrastructure Project to support schools in dire need of such infrastructure to enhance the quality of teaching and learning."

Dr. Eduah highlighted the foundation's interventions in Tarkwa village and outlined other GNPC intervention programs which include a 3-unit classroom block and astroturf in Dompim, a community market in Adieye and a 3-unit classroom block in Wassa Simpa.

Nana Kwadwo Mina II Chief of Teberebia on behalf of his people thanked GNPC for its investment in education across the country benefiting his community. He said the intervention is one that would alleviate the major problem facing the school of overcrowding and related pressure on existing infrastructure.

However, he took the opportunity to further request that the foundation help set up an Information Communication Center, an ICT center for the school to reduce their current burden by providing over 500 pupils with only 5 computers.

MCE, Honza. Kesse extolled GNPC's role as a development partner at both the national and local community levels and encouraged other organizations to emulate the same.

On his part, the Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Aggrey Forson, thanked the GNPC for responding to the community's call for support in providing the classroom block and urged the pupils to keep the facility clean at all times.

He further assured GNPC that the facility will be used for its intended purpose of enhancing teaching and learning and that its equipment will ensure that the facility is maintained to serve the community for as long as it should.

The new block, Three-Dimensional Street, is fully equipped with tables and chairs, blackboards, a common room for employees and a warehouse.

Among the dignitaries who were present at the function was Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa-Nsuaem Hon. George Mireku Duker, Chief of Tebrebia, Nana Kwadwo Mina II and Municipal Director of Education.
