Nicolas Tagliafico has joined Olympique Lyon for next season. The Argentine full-back left Ajax after five seasons and signed his contract with the French club on Saturday.
"Olympique Lyonnais is pleased to announce the signing of Argentine international defender from Ajax, Nicoles Tagliafico, for 3 seasons, i.e. until June 30, 2025. The amount of the transfer fee is €4.2 million", the Ligue 1 side said in an official statement.
In this way, Tagliafico arrives at Lyon with the hope of having more continuity and arriving in good shape for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. During his last spell in the Netherlands, he lost his place to Daley Blind and was looking for a way out.
Initially, there was talk of a move to Barcelona, but in the end his new destination will be Lyon, who will try to win the league title over PSG in the Ligue 1.
Olympique will be the fifth club in the career of the 29-year-old left-back, who has previously worn the shirts of Banfield, Independiente, Real Murcia and Ajax, as well as the Argentina national team, of course.
