Cape Town On Monday, a 30-year-old Nigerian man who had been detained for taking part in a romance scam was seen in court in Stellenbosch.

An elderly person Roland Enuwese Esosa allegedly duped R2 million on the dating app Tinder. He was taken to Stellenbosch after being taken into custody last Wednesday in the Northgate Mall in Roodepoort, Gauteng.

He is accused of defrauding people and laundering money. Captain Bernard Adams of the Stellenbosch Detective division, John Alexander, the head investigator at Royal Investigations, and Sergeant Allister Marajh of the Stellenbosch Vispol division was in charge of the multidisciplinary investigation into him.

The investigation into the R2 million romance scam was given to Royal Investigations, according to Alexander.

We apprehended Esosa at Northgate Mall in Roodepoort, Gauteng, as a result of our investigation. Particularly important were Captain Bernard Adams and Sergeant Allister Marajh of the Stellenbosch Detectives. The defendant sought to pay the arresting authorities R500,000,000 right away in exchange for his release.

He continues by saying that they discovered a BMW key in his hands, which directed them to a pricey sports car in the parking lot. Esosa gave the officials the car once more to get him released.

Alexander said, "Unfortunately for him, we still have honorable police officers who cannot be bought."

"The suspect did not offer a plausible justification for how he came to own this pricey vehicle. The choice was made to seize the car for additional investigation.

On Friday of last week, Esosa had a brief appearance in the Randburg Magistrate's Court, where the police obtained a transit warrant to take him to Stellenbosch.

The private investigator claims that Esosa is a member of an organized crime gang that preys on weak women who are merely looking for company.
