The German midfielder was benched by Pep Guardiola for the final game of the campaign since a win would have guaranteed Man City a one-point championship victory over Liverpool.
With 14 minutes remaining and a 2-0 deficit, it appeared as though they could miss the chance to win a fourth championship in five years until Gundogan scored twice and Rodri added another to secure an incredible comeback.
At the premiere of the documentary "Together: Champions Again!" Gundogan said, "We are all competitive, we all want to play, and I remember the week before I hadn't started the West Ham game so I was quite confident in starting. Then the moment I found out I wasn't starting I was a bit frustrated and angry.
"I still made an effort to maintain my composure and support the starters, but I guess my displeasure showed a little bit during the game.
Things didn't go well when I was substituted because we gave up the second goal 10 seconds later. However, as a professional football player, you always try to do your best and follow the simple instructions.
"We scored the opening goal, which fortunately happened, and then we scored three goals in ten minutes. Because everything happened so rapidly, it's still hard for me to analyze what happened.
