The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has issued a warning that it would pursue legal action against anybody found responsible for suspected offences related to the Northern Development Authority's awarding of a contract (NDA).
The OSP stated in a statement on Monday that it began its investigations into the suspected forging of 10 million signatures on June 30. Martin Kpebu, a private attorney, requested that Mr. Kissi Agyebeng's office look into claims of irregularities at the NDA.
This comes after a previous NDA CEO petitioned Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, the Chief of Staff, regarding a fraud concern concerning his replacement.
In the petition, Dr. Sulemana Anamzoya accused his successor, Sumaila Abdul Rahman, of fabricating data and forging his signature in order to cash in a contract for 10,400,000. The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, was urged to begin a thorough inquiry into the development in Mr. Martin Kpebu's petition.
In light of the facts, kindly look into the instances mentioned above in compliance with your legal obligation under the Office of Special Prosecutor Act, 2017 (Act 959), he pleaded in his appeal. "Save mother Ghana the millions of Ghana Cedis we risk losing," he said.
The OSP said that as of right now, it has granted bail to those officials who were previously asked for interrogation, about a month after the petitioner filed it. The Controller and Accountant General were instructed by the Special Prosecutor to immediately halt all payments resulting from the contract as of July 1, 2022.
The Coordinator for Special Initiatives at Jubilee House, a number of current officers, including the Chief Executive, as well as pertinent former NDA and A&Qs Consortium executives, have all been invited for interrogation by the Special Prosecutor.
Parts of the announcement said, "All the invited people have been released on bond. The statement ended, "All those considered guilty for corruption and corruption-related offence(s) would be prosecuted and brought before the High Court for prosecution."
