Arsenal have yet to make a serious transfer bid for Youri Tielemans, with the reason for the Gunners' hesitation revealed.
Arsenal is yet to make a serious bid for Leicester City's Youri Tielemans.
And, according to talkSPORT, the Gunners' reluctance to sign the Belgian is down to physical concerns.
With only one year left on his contract, Tielemans has been linked with a move away from Leicester.
Tielemans has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium throughout the majority of the summer, but has remained at Leicester.
Manchester United have also named the 25-year-old one of their priorities, with the midfielder considered as a top-class alternative if a deal for Frenkie de-Jong from Barcelona falls through.
Arsenal, on the other hand, are thus far unwilling to commit to trying to sign Tielemans while Arteta continues his summer roster makeover.
This summer, the north London club has already spent over £100 million on new players, including moves for Manchester City duo Gabriel Jesus and Olekdandr Zinchenko, as well as Porto's promising Portuguese midfielder Fabio Vieira.
Areteta is thought to be interested on adding more depth to his midfield, particularly given the uncertainty surrounding the future of current standout Granit Xhaka.
While speculations linking Tielemans to a move have persisted, it is understood Arteta has not yet instructed his club to pursue the Belgian international due to worries that he lacks the physical presence the manager requires to control his side.
Despite looking in terrific shape as he reported for pre-season training, photographs reveal Tielemans has shed some pounds ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
He's also had a strong pre-season, with some standout performances for the Foxes.
Leicester chairman Aiyawatt 'Top' Srivaddhanaprabha has confirmed that the club has not received any bids for the star.
"There haven't been any offers," the Foxes' manager stated of Tielemans.
"There hasn't yet been anything solid or a proposal."
For months, Tielemans has been linked with a move to Arsenal, but the Gunners have yet to make an approach.
Tielemans' current deal with the King Power expires next summer, and he might leave as a free agent.
He is one of Brendan Rodgers' main players at the King Power Stadium, and he has been named captain in a handful of the club's pre-season friendly, including ones against Hull City and Derby County, demonstrating how highly they regard the Belgian ace.
Tielemans appeared in 32 Premier League games last season, including 29 starts, and finished with six goals and four assists as Leicester placed eighth in the table.
