CHELSEA have received some worse news in their pursuit of Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.
From this point forward, for an extended period of time, the Blues appeared to be the clear front-runners to eat up the French international this mid-year.
Barcelona, though, has now joined the battle in an effort to seize Chelsea's £55 million deal.
Additionally, according to Fabrizio Romano, the Catalan goliaths acknowledge that Kounde needs to be fixed.
He claimed, speaking through online entertainment, "Barcelona are in direct touch with Sevilla for Jules Kounde. Discussions are ongoing.
"Barca is also feeling more confident today and is working to complete the deal quickly.
Jules Kounde's individual conditions agreement is done and fixed, and he is waiting for the clubs.
The information was released after Romano confirmed on Monday that Barcelona and Kounde had constructive conversations.
Chelsea is therefore shifting its focus to other options as they prepare to pass on the Sevilla star.
Presnel Kimpembe of Paris Saint-Germain and Josko Gvardiol of RB Leipzig have both been linked to transfers to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are also recalled for putting together a bid for Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries.
Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly are two well-known players that Thomas Tuchel actively added to his squad this late spring.
The German coach recently revealed Chelsea have "no chance" of winning the Premier League title without further appearances.
