He is baffled that most African Christians can pray for hours to God, situations he believes the Almighty and all-knowing God is aware of.

The controversial politician who is a practicing Catholic but also holds high esteem for African traditional beliefs and its deities,  says he does not want to bore God with any long and unnecessary prayers just as some do.

Responding to a question on Ultimate 106.9 FM, about his nature or whether he is a prayerful person and communicates with his God always, Ambassador Agyekum noted that prayers must be said on a need-to-be basis and also straight to the point.

‘‘ I pray as frequently as I need my God, I wouldn’t say that I pray all the time, God says to call him in times of need, when I get up in the morning, I pray for a minute or two, that’s it’’

‘‘When I get up in the morning and I can hear the birds singing. I open my eyes, I can hear, I feel I am breathing, I say thank you God for giving me this day, for keeping me alive this day, that is even less than 30 seconds, he knows by fault .’’ the Ambassador said.

He also noted that he does not pray or intercede for the dead in his prayers, not even for loved ones he has lost.

‘‘I don’t pray for the dead, but I do remember them on occasions. I reflect on some of the wonderful and intimate moments we shared’’ he said.

The Former Board Chairman of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), under erstwhile John Dramani Mahama’s regime at various points in his active political career dared the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to appear before the powerful Antonia over several accusations against his person and the NDC.

Antonia is a dreaded river deity in the Ashanti Region, where several people including traditionalists take solace over issues of divinity and seek justice.
