The Argentina international has signed a five-year contract with the option of an extra season and he cannot wait to get started under the tutelage of his long-term mentor Erik ten Hag.
Martinez is currently training with his new team-mates at Carrington and could be involved in one of this weekend’s two friendly matches against La Liga sides Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano.
Lisandro is brimming with excitement for the future, but he is also keen to acknowledge his past and the defender has used his official Twitter account to release this message of gratitude to Ajax.
“Dear Ajacieden,” he posted. “Today marks the end of a very important chapter in my career and life, and I leave with the pride and honour of having been a part of this amazing club.
“I was very young when I arrived and was lucky to find a dressing room full of great people who I'll never be able to thank enough. My journey would've been impossible without my team-mates. I hope I’ve left a bit of a mark on each of you, just as I'll forever carry you in my heart.
“Finally, I want to express my eternal gratitude to @AFCAjax for the opportunity they gave me to come to Europe and thank all of the club executives, coaches and staff for their help on a daily basis.
“You’ve made me into one of you… Forever Ajacied!”
