Gianluca Scamacca, a striker for West Ham United, will try to live up to the shirt number assigned to him by his new team.

On Tuesday night, the 23-year-old became the club's fourth summer transfer window signing. The Italian international has committed to the London Stadium for a five-year deal with an option for an additional year.

Scamacca will take the number seven shirt in David Moyes’ squad following his confirmed arrival, although it is a shirt number that has had mixed success in it in recent times. The number was vacated by Ukrainian winger Andriy Yarmolenko, who left the club at the end of his contract earlier this summer.

Gianluca Scamacca’s first words after sealing West Ham transfer from Sassuolo

Gianluca Scamacca, an Italian international striker, just joined West Ham United as their fourth summer signing from Sassuolo. The striker has given his reasons for making the move to the London Stadium.

Gianluca Scamacca, a striker for West Ham United, has made his first public remarks after agreeing to a £30.5 million transfer from Serie A team Sassuolo to the London Stadium.

With the addition of Scamacca, the Hammers now have four new players after bringing in Alphonse Areloa, Nayef Aguerd, and Flynn Downes from Swansea City, Stade Rennais, and Paris Saint-Germain, respectively.

Despite links with Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal, Scamacca, who scored 16 Serie A goals last season, opted to join the Hammers. Speaking after sealing the move, the Italian explained why he wanted to join the side who are competing in the play-off qualifying rounds of this season’s Europa Conference League

I am really excited to join West Ham,” Scamacca told the club's website. “I’ve waited a long time for this moment – it’s been a dream to play in the Premier League.

“I feel like West Ham is the perfect team for me. They showed they really wanted me and when I spoke to the manager there was an instant understanding.
