Wojciechowski also shared details about the camera sensors in the Pixel tablet (code-named Tangor). The device, which is expected to be launched next year, will reportedly come with two Sony IMX355 sensors — one at the front and one at the back. The sensor has been used by Google in its earlier devices, including the Pixel 6, where it works as the selfie camera.
Alongside the aforementioned devices, Wojciechowski also shared findings about an unidentified Pixel device code-named 'Lynx,' which will also reportedly ship with the same Samsung GN1 main sensor as the Pixel 7 duo. It will also reportedly feature the 64-megapixel Sony IMX787 sensor, presumably for telephotos shots, while the 13-megapixel Sony IMX712 will be the selfie-camera hardware. Finally, there's another mystery 'P7' device with the code-name 'Pipit' or 'Passport.' Its four sensors will be the GN1, IMX363, IMX386 and IMX355. Interestingly, the penultimate sensor is listed as 'FOLDED' but it's not immediately clear if it has anything to do with the much-rumored Pixel Fold.
Explaining how the information was unearthed, Wojciechowski said that he had to go through great lengths to figure everything out as Google had obfuscated all the sensors' names in its code. Once he obtained the sensor IDs from the code, they had to be matched to actual camera hardware using various resources, such as camera drivers on Github, to come to his conclusion about the sensors on the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and the Pixel tablet.
