A detailed account of how a KNUST freshman was gang-raped by a police officer and a final-year student.

New information has emerged regarding the alleged gang rape of a first-year student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) by a final-year Business Administration student at the same institution, Joel Osei Owusu, and a police officer, General L/Cpl Frank Adu-Poku.

The chilling account was revealed during the duo's trial on Thursday, July 28, when Prosecutor ACP Kofi Blagozi narrated the heinous incident.

According to ACP Blagozi, the 'victim' was lured into Joel Osei Owusu's hostel under the guise that he was going to show her ladies' cloth, a product she sells.

However, upon entering the room, the final year student locked it while demanding that the 'victim' undress in order for him to photograph and videotape her nudity for a client in another country.

He also promised the victim a 30 percent share of the money he would receive from his business partner.

Shocked by the turn of events, the victim agreed to Joel Osei Owusu's demands and later had sexual intercourse with her while filming it.

After the act, Owusu locked up the victim and invited the police officer, General L/Cpl Frank Adu-Poku, to his hotel to have sexual relations with her as well.

"The final year student then told the 'victim' that he is a scammer and that he will only let her leave the room after she undresses so that he can take pictures and a video of her nakedness to send to his business partner abroad for money, of which the complainant will receive 30%."

"Out of fear, the complainant told the police that she reluctantly obliged and removed her clothes, where the final-year student took pictures and videos of her nudity, and she was also compelled to recite some words that the first accused person sent to his partner for payment of the money."

"The complainant also told the police that the first accused, a final-year student, ordered her to perform oral sex on him, which was videotaped, and then went on to have unprotected sex with her."

"After satisfying himself, he [the Level 400 student] exited the room, locked the door, and returned with the second accused, a police officer armed with a pistol whom he introduced as his friend and business partner." The final year student left the room locked because it had been left with the complainant and the police officer, who also had sexual intercourse with her.

"After the police officer forcibly had sex with the complainant, the first accused person returned to the room and forcibly administered LYDIA contraceptive pills to the complainant in order to prevent any unwanted pregnancy, after which the complainant was forced to leave the room."

"Traumatized, the victim went home and later confided in the University authorities (at KNUST), who decided to report to the police on July 21, 2022," Prosecutor ACP Kofi Blagozi was quoted as saying by 3news.com.

Meanwhile, the suspects who appeared before the Asokore Mampong District Court for the first time were denied bail and remanded into police custody until August 10, 2022.
