Review of Free SHS bound to happen – NDC MP.

Dr. Clement Apaak, Member of Parliament for Builsa South, predicts that the government will eventually change its "no review" policy on the free Senior High School (Free SHS) program.

In a series of tweets, he chastised the government for being inconsistent in communicating its position on the Free SHS.

According to the legislator, while some government appointees have hinted at the possibility of the program, the government has remained steadfast in its opposition to it.

The Deputy Ranking Member on the Education Committee in Parliament stated that former President John Dramani Mahama will be vindicated if the government publicly admits to reviewing Free SHS, citing several government U-turns on a number of its pronouncements.

Apaak believes that a review will improve the program. He was responding to comments made by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta in an interview with Joy News on July 28 in which he hinted at a possible review of the Free SHS programme, contradicting a categorical statement he made during the presentation of the Mid-Year Budget Review in which he stated categorically that Free SHS are not on the table for review.

"SHS-Some government appointees hint at a review, but the government remains steadfast." But it's unavoidable, just as they bolted to the IMF after promising not to; and the return of road tolls after they cancelled it! Dr. Clement Apaak tweeted, "Wink, wink, that if they agree to the review publicly, JM will be vindicated."

"FSHS program - Will not be reviewed, but review is always an option." While our students are suffering, our masters are struggling, and our parents are concerned! Agreed, let's review FSHS to improve it, don't wait for things to get worse, 1.3 million students, Ghana's future at stake," he added.

The Akufo-Addo administration implemented free SHS to remove financial barriers to second-cycle education.

Following reports of difficulties feeding students, the government has recently been pressed to review the program.

fSHS program - Will not be reviewed; however, review is always an option. While our students are suffering, our masters are struggling, and our parents are concerned! Agreed, let's review fSHS to improve it, don't wait for things to get worse, 1.3M students, Ghana's future at stake!
