Inter closing on another Fiorentina midfielder

2017-28-07 - 21:40 According to Sky Sport, Inter is moving closer to Uruguayan midfielder Matias Vecino. The player is not traveling to Lisbon with the Viola because he is ready finalize a move to Inter, who will pay his clause. Inter are reportedly prepared to pay the player 3 million EUR per season, likely on a four year contract. The finishing touches of the deal are expected to be concluded next week, after medical exams and formal negotiations. For Fiorentina, who is working to prepare for the next season, it has been a difficult summer. Especially in the light of the departures that inevitably left Florence for bigger and better opportunities. Borja Valero and Bernardeschi are both with their new teams, and now it seems like Vecino will be following them out the exit door. With Milan strongly linked to Viola striker Nikola Kalinic, it will be a challenge for new coach Pioli, who looks forward to new reinforcements and hopes that the sales will soon end. The deal for Vecino looks to be in the latter stages, as is evidenced by the fact that the Uruguayan midfielder did not join his teammates for the friendly against Sporting Lisbon.

Inter Milan complete Mkhitaryan signing

Inter Milan have completed the signing of Henrikh Mkhitaryan on a free transfer. The former Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United and Arsenal man becomes the first Armenian to represent Inter in the club's history. The Armenian has played in his home country, Ukraine, Germany, England and most recently Italy, spending three campaigns at Roma, making 116 appearances, scoring 29 goals and signing off with the UEFA Europa Conference League. Mkhitaryan's arrival follows two high-profile additions in the form of Romelu Lukaku and Andre Onana as Inter look to reclaim their Serie A crown after narrowly losing out to city rivals AC Milan. The Armenian will add depth to Inter's midfield with Arturo Vidal and Matias Vecino expected to leave the club.

Inter snaps up Asllani from Empoli

The 20-year-old has signed a contract until June 2027 and will cost Inter €14million, with €4m of that identified as the fee for the initial loan. A central midfielder, Asllani came through Empoli's youth system and enjoyed a breakout season in 2021-2022, featuring 23 times in Serie A as the Tuscans comfortably avoided relegation. He scored his only goal of the season in a 4-2 defeat to Inter on May 6. While the youngster is unlikely to be a regular starter initially – rather a back-up to Marcelo Brozovic – he will bolster Inter's midfield following the departure of Matias Vecino and expected exit of Stefano Sensi. Asllani was present at the club on Thursday (AEST), when Romelu Lukaku completed his loan return from Chelsea, and the Belgium striker was central to a slightly bizarre announcement video. Speaking to club owner Steven Zhang in the clip, Lukaku said: "I spoke to this guy, the new guy, Asllani... I like his mentality. You'll be surprised. He's only 20, but he speaks like a 27-year-old." As part of the deal, promising Uruguayan striker Martin Satriano is expected to join Empoli on loan for the upcoming season.
