Cesc Fabregas agrees to shock Serie B switch
Midfield icon Cesc Fabregas is set to make Italy the next stop in his illustrious career, having agreed to imminently take his talents to the country's 2nd division. The outfit set to land the one-time Spanish international? Como. For those not aware, Fabregas is currently available as a free agent. This comes after Ligue 1 club AS Monaco opted against offering the 35-year-old a new contract, ahead of the expiration of his previous terms earlier this month. Having long left his best days behind him, though, there had been little chatter when it came to Fabregas' next destination, with some reports having gone as far as to suggest that the midfielder was considering hanging up his boots for good. In turn, it has come as something of a bolt from the blue to hear of the one-time Arsenal and Chelsea standout being on the verge of a move to Italy. As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, amongst other sources, Fabregas has reached a 'full agreement' with Serie B outfit Como, to take his talents to northern Italy with a view to next season. The 110-time capped international, in turn, will put pen to paper on a contract through 2024 in the coming days, with an official announcement potentially set to arrive as early as this weekend. Chelsea renew interest in Gvardiol Chelsea have reportedly made a new attempt to sign Josko Gvardiol. The Blues have offered a swap deal with Werner on loan but RB Leipzig are said to have no intention to sell him, as per Fabrizio Romano. The two clubs will continue to discuss possibilities. On the Ascendancy Manchester United will make a move for Real Madrid star Marco Asensio, according to reports. But they may face competition from Liverpool in the transfer chase. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Red Devils look set to launch a bid for the Spanish winger. Asensio, 26, is into the final year of his Bernabeu contract and Real Madrid are keen to sell - because they refuse to bow to his increased wage demands for a new contract. However, Los Blancos still want £34million for the three-time Champions League winner, who sacked his agent to secure a transfer. ‘Toon only outsiders to sign Werner’ Timo Werner would prefer old club RB Leipzig or Arsenal over Newcastle if he leaves Chelsea, reports say. Sky Germany suggest the striker is more interested in winning honours than earning big bucks.
