The West African Senior High School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for 2022 will take place from Monday, August 1, to Tuesday, September 27, 2022.
According to the West African Examinations Council's (WAEC) website, candidates will begin project work subjects such as basketry, ceramics, and graphic design on Monday, August 1.
The candidates would take the English language (oral) exam on Monday, August 29, 2022.
On Thursday, September 8, 2022, the English language (essay and objectives) would be written.
After the extended deadline of April 8, 2022, 422,883 candidates from 977 schools registered for the WASSCE.
There were 72 candidates with visual impairment, 39 males and 33 females, and 14 candidates with hearing impairment.
Prospective candidates would also be tested on 60 subjects, including four core and 56 electives.
On July 20, Madam Wendy Enyonam Addy-Lamptey, Head of the Ghana National Office of WAEC, stated that only Ghanaian candidates would be allowed to take the 2022 WASSCE.
She explained that the WAEC's other four members — Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and The Gambia — had returned to the May/June calendar this year and had administered the WASSCE for their school candidates from May 9 to June 24.
The academic calendars of the four countries have been streamlined to allow them to write the exam in May/June, as Ghana adheres to the 'new normal calendar' caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

The first broadcasts were made in four Ghanaian languages: Fanti, Twi, Ga, and, later, Hausa.
In an interview with GBC NEWS on the occasion of the day, veteran broadcaster Nana Essilfie Conduah expressed concern about the shutdown of the corporation's external service.
He stated that the GBC is an embodiment of the Ghanaian people and that it must be protected and preserved for future generations.
