There have been 3,224 police recruits who have graduated from the nation's five police academies. The first group of recruits for 2022 who have successfully completed the Basic Police Training programme consists of 1,953 men and 1,020 women.
Accra, the nation's capital, Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Capital, Ho in the Volta Region, Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, and Pwalugu in the Upper East all had graduation ceremonies at the same time. 847, 416, 361, 612, and 725 recruits in all received training in the areas, in that sequence.
The recruits learned riding, driving, swimming, crowd control, incident, disaster, crime scene, and traffic management during the six-month training programme. They also developed their radio communication, intelligence-gathering, and community-based patrols. Other programmes included charge office management, high-risk operations, access control, arrest and search protocols, use of force protocols and human rights, client care and professional police ethics.
Additionally, honours were given to qualified candidates for their outstanding work in the disciplines in which they were evaluated.

The 847 recruits, who made up the highest intake, impressed everyone in attendance by displaying parade formations like Nkabom, (Unity), Dwennimmen, and Nteasee. Mary Anane-Amponsah reports from the National Police Training School in Tesano, Accra.
The reviewing officer for the parade, Commissioner of Police (COP) Isaac Ken Yeboah, Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said the service under the new leadership has positioned itself to guarantee that personnel International best practises were demonstrated in line with the service's mission.

According to COP Yeboah, this is the first intake of recruits since the government given approval for the hiring of 5,000 men and women into the service. He said that the second and third intakes were still in the training phase.
The Director-General of CID stated, "At the senior officer level, the Police School is holding Cadet Officers Courses for 308 persons at a session, which is the largest number observed at the academy, for the first time in history."
