The producers and distributors of Gino brand food products, Conserveria Ghana Ltd, have teamed up with former Ashanti Kotoko Chairman Herbert Mensah to donate a bullock, money, and a number of Gino food items to the Muslim community in Kumasi for an enhanced celebration of Eid ul-Adha, the most important feast day on the Islamic calendar.
The gift is a result of the 2022 festivities.
Eid ul-Adha, also known as the Celebration of Sacrifice, is a four-day festival that is observed worldwide in every Islamic community to remember Ibrahim's submission to Allah. The annual Hajj journey to Mecca's sacred land comes to a close with the Festival of Sacrifice. Muslims believe that the yearly sacrifice ceremony is a chance to reflect on other people and repent of past mistakes.
Muslims offer goats, lambs, and cows as a symbol of Abraham's (Abraham's) devotion to God, who ordered him to offer his only son as a sacrifice in a dream from Allah. Abraham complied.
All loyal Muslims who can afford an animal must take part in the sacrifice festival. Less disadvantaged individuals can afford to attend the celebration since it is also required of those with money to donate some of it to charity. Every year, as part of a charitable custom, Herbert Mensah, a fellow Christian, teams up with Conserveria Ghana Ltd. to provide assistance to the Zongo community in Kumasi so that they may enjoy their festival of sacrifices. The local chief Imam typically distributes food aid and financial gifts to the community's most needy residents.
As in past years, David Afflu, managing director of Conserveria, stated that the firm chose to give gifts through the Ashanti regional chief Imam out of respect and devotion to Eid as well as as part of their corporate social responsibility.
The presentation was delivered by King Edward of Hello FM in Kumasi on behalf of Conserveria Ghana Ltd and the previous chairman of Kotoko. The host of the Hello FM Morning Show indicated that the purpose of the contribution was to express gratitude for Ghanaian consumers' support of the company's goods.
The contributors, he continued, "share humanitarian ideals and concern for the underprivileged in Ghanaian society generally and the Muslim community in particular."
On behalf of the Muslim community, Sheikh Abdul Mumin Haroun, the Ashanti regional chief imam, accepted the gifts and expressed unending thanks to Herbert Mensah and Conserveria Ghana Ltd for their yearly humanitarian help.
According to Sheikh Mumin, the contribution comes at the right moment because the country's high food costs have made the zongo community and other impoverished Ghanaian groups extremely hungry and food insecure.
