Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, the president of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA), has earned a Master of Arts in Monitoring and Evaluation, his third postgraduate degree, from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). Some well-known Ghanaians graduated from the institution at the 22nd congregation. Kwame A Plus, Abiba Sinare, and others are among them.
Mr. Dwumfour obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration from GIMPA in 2016–2017 before obtaining a Masters of Art in International Relations and Diplomacy from the same institution in 2020.
It was exhausting, according to the GJA President, juggling his campaign for the position of GJA President with his academic obligations, but "I pushed myself around 8 years ago to gain an academic improvement every year, a minimum of a certificate. Due to the media work schedule, it was challenging, but with perseverance.
"You don't develop via GIMPA; GIMPA goes through you," he stated.
In order to advance oneself, he advised journalists to pursue higher education "despite of the busy schedule and financial restraints." We must be knowledgeable in all fields. Let's not limit our attention to communication and journalism. Knowledge from all aspects is necessary, and this will fully inform our interviews and reports.
The need to improve oneself is critical. My main concern is welfare. He said, "Journalists, get ready for the excellent plans loaded. Capacity development is the next thing on my heart. A leader must lead by example, and this is what I'm doing. "We (G JA) have established a cooperation with the US Embassy in Ghana to train journalists, as well as 20 scholarships through the Wisconsin University College. We are about to see a new GJA, and we have gotten right to work.
The GIMPA also recognised Albert Kwabena Dwumfour for achieving the post of GJA President, one of the highest in the nation. He expressed his gratitude to the GIMPA Management for choosing to honour him and expressed the hope that this would inspire him to elevate the GJA.
In an interview with Atinka TV's Ebenezer Madugu outside the GIMPA Congregation, he stated, "I am really honoured." The GJA would undergo a fresh facelift under Mr. Dwumfour's leadership, according to Professor Samuel Kwaku Bonsu, Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, who shared his recollections of Mr. Dwumfour.
"We are overjoyed that journalists chose him" (Dwumfour). We appreciate you. This demonstrates GIMPA's direction. He was in SRC, as far as I can recall. I recall that both he and we had a reputation for being rough. We aided each other by cooperating. We think he will work with the same vigour on the job of development. To him, my congratulations. Ebenezer Madugu was told by Prof. Kwaku Bonsu.
Alumnus of GIMPA and Ghanaian business magnate Daniel McKorley challenged the congregation to conduct themselves professionally at the third session of the 22nd Congregation.
"Being average is simple; pursuing excellence calls for dedication. The world and Ghana are waiting for you. You have the chance to demonstrate your abilities. There will be chances for both success and failure. Accept both since we all learn from our mistakes. Anything that doesn't seem to be functioning should be challenged. Bring your excitement, energy, and drive to the globe, McDan exhorted.
