The supporters were astounded by the former Rangers star's strategy and composure as he scored during the preseason experience.

Fans all over the world are still perplexed by Nigerian midfielder Joe Aribo's technique, poise, and confidence as he scored a stunning goal against Villarreal to open his Southampton account on Saturday.

Yeremy Pino's header put Southampton behind the Yellow Submarine in a preseason match, but the Super Eagles hero, who cost the Saints £10 million in the middle of the year, quickly restored equality.

He gained possession of the ball within his own half, drove past several Villarreal defenders, and scored by twisting the ball past goalkeeper Pepe Reina while displaying amazing strength and composure.

Fans are speculating about an objective, with some predicting that Lionel Messi would be pleased, if not eager, to use the Nigerian international's skills.

The athlete believes that the outcome is ample evidence of how prepared he is for his next Premier League campaign.

Sadly for Aribo and Southampton, Villarreal won the game after Gerard Moreno scored in the 72nd minute, just eight minutes after the Nigerian's work. Villarreal went on to dominate the game.

Regarding the goal, Aribo said, "I was laughing with the young men inside.

"I stated I had no idea where I pulled that slash on the right foot out from, but it was a really wonderful feeling to score at home and hopefully I can carry it into games to come and help the young players this season," the player remarked.

When Southampton plays Tottenham Hotspur in their opening Premier League game in London on August 6, Aribo can be counted on to be in the firing line.

Aribo, who formerly played for English club Charlton, joined Rangers in 2019 and contributed by tallying 26 goals. He oversaw nine goals and provided eight assists as Rangers finished last in the Europa League, which he also scored in, and won the Scottish Cup in what was one of his best seasons in Scotland.
