Christian Eriksen Gives His Verdict After Ten Hag Tests Out New Man United Role
Following his Old Trafford debut, Christian Eriksen spoke about his feelings on a little positional adjustment since joining Manchester United.
The international player from Denmark signed with the Red Devils following a protracted transfer controversy that left many observers and supporters speculating about Eriksen's upcoming move. After the Bees gave Eriksen a six-month contract in January, it seemed as though he would stay at Brentford for the duration of the window.
However, the former Tottenham man eventually put pen to paper on a deal with United and has enjoyed a promising start to life as a Red Devils player during the club's pre-season campaign. Eriksen put in another impressive performance against Spanish outfit Rayo Vallecano in front of the Old Trafford faithful for the first time.
After the game, he shed light on how he feels to be entertaining a slightly different role to the one we have all gown accustomed to seeing Eriksen take on. Pressed on how he viewed playing deeper than usual against Rayo, the 30-year-old issued the kind of reply Ten Hag will love.
"First of all, I think you play wherever the manager wants you to play - he puts out a team and then you try to go from there,"he told United's in-house media. Obviously with some games you cover different situations but the aim is still the same, to be involved as much as possible. Whether thats to play as a 10 or as an eight or anywhere."
Eriksen went on to confess he is happy to be finished with pre-season and now has his sights set firmly on helping United recover from their worst ever Premier League campaign last time around.
