A few terrible messages have been delivered to the Red Devils. 

Another analysis indicated that the Manchester United duo of Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire have experienced more Twitter abuse than some other Premier League footballers. During the first part of the 2021–22 season, the UK communications regulator Ofcom examined more than 2,000,000 tweets and discovered close to 60,000 damaging messages. 

The scorn was mostly directed at a small group of individuals, with only 12 players—eight of whom played for Manchester United—receiving half of the offensive texts. 

Who in the Premier League has been treated poorly on Twitter?


Ronaldo was discovered to have experienced the most online abuse during the studied period. Generally speaking, between August 13, 2021 and January 24, 2022, the forward received 12,520 oppressive texts. 
With 8,954 of these tweets, Maguire came in second place, closely followed by Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes, who were third and fourth, respectively. 

Harry Kane, the captain of Great Britain, was the non-United player who was handled the worst and finished fifth overall, with David de Gea, Fred, Jesse Lingard, Jack Grealish, Paul Pogba, and Jesse Lingard adjusting the top 10. 
Additionally, an investigation was launched to determine the reason behind the rise in degrading tweets sent by Premier League football players.

On November 7, when Manchester City humiliated United 2-0 on derby day at Old Trafford, Maguire showed regret to United's allies. Following this, just under 3,000 oppressive messages—or 10.6% of all those sent on that particular day—were sent. 

How can the abuse of football players be stopped? 

According to the report, 7 percent of football players under investigation used Twitter frequently. Ofcom's gathering chief for broadcasting and online content Kevin Bakhurst stated that both tech companies and allies expected to take additional measures to control it. 
According to him, virtual entertainment companies shouldn't have to believe that new laws will make users of their programs and locations feel safer.

"Tech companies should be very transparent about the steps they are doing to protect customers at the point when we take over responsibility for online security. We'll assume that they should consider security when planning their administrations. Additionally, allies might play a constructive role in preserving the game they enjoy. We ask people to report inappropriate or damaging posts as soon as they see them because, according to our research, the vast majority of online fans behave honestly.
