Renato Sanches joins PSG on loan with obligation for £8m transfer further fuelling French side’s cull’
Renato Sanches appears destined to join Paris Saint-Germain, which has hurt Arsenal's search for a replacement midfielder.
The international player from Portugal is about to leave Lille on loan, and PSG will be required to pay £8 million to acquire him the following summer.
Sanches has previously drawn comparisons to both Wolves and AC Milan as well as the Arsenal.
The 24-year-old participated in 32 games in all competitions for Lille last season and previously won Ligue 1 with the team.
According to O Jogo, the trio—new PSG manager Christophe Galtier, director of football Luis Campos, and the player—were responsible for bringing him to Lille.
Sanches was once thought of as one of the world's top young talents, but he has never fully lived up to his potential.
He spent the 2017–18 season on loan with Swansea, although he was never able to adapt to playing in the Premier League.
He was considering returning to England, where he had unfinished business, but PSG appears to have outbid Arsenal for his services.
The fact that Sanches has joined the Parisians signals that the club's purge will continue.
PSG wants to get rid of players like Julian Draxler, Idrissa Gana Gueye, and Georgino Wijnaldum from their midfield.
