West Ham join Bournemouth in battle for defender – €15m demanded by Dutch club
West Ham United have reportedly joined Bournemouth in the race for Feyenoord defender Marcos Senesi. Yesterday 1908.nl had reported the Cherries’ interest in the player. It was claimed the Premier League side had ‘officially signed up’ for the 25-year-old, even though it wasn’t known how much they would offer for the transfer. Today, the same website is back with a new report, this time saying a ‘battle erupts’ between West Ham and Bournemouth. 1908.nl writes that their ‘well-established English sources’ tell them the Hammers are looking for a defender who can take the place of Nayef Aguerd, who’s sidelined with an injury, and Senesi has become a target. Just like in the first report, the outlet claims that Feyenoord are demanding €15m for the player The Dutch side are unlikely to make big discounts, as they’ll already have to pay his former club San Lorenzo a 10% share of any profit they will be making, following his €6.5m move in 2019. It still isn’t clear whether Bournemouth or West Ham will get to that price, as none of the clubs seem to have placed their bids yet.
AFC Bournemouth reportedly in talks to sign Marcos Senesi
CHERRIES are in talks with Feyenoord over the signing of centre-back Marcos Senesi, according to reports. The 25-year-old made his debut for the Argentina national team earlier this summer, featuring in a 5-0 friendly win over Estonia, in which superstar Lionel Messi scored all five goals. And reports from both transfer expert Fabrizio Romano and the Daily Mail claim Cherries are now discussing a potential move for the defender. Senesi came through the youth ranks at Argentinean outfit San Lorenzo, progressing into their first team, before switching to the Eredivisie in 2019. Since, he has made 116 appearances for Feyenoord, including playing in every round of the club's run to the Europa Conference League final last season. Senesi played the full 90 minutes in all seven knockout ties, with the final ultimately ending in disappointment, losing 1-0 to Roma in Albania. A fellow member of the Feyenoord back-line last season, Tyrell Malacia, has this summer joined Manchester United. Arne Slot's men finished third in the Dutch top flight last season, behind only Ajax and PSV Eindhoven. Discussing Senesi's future earlier this summer, the player's agent Danilo Caravello told SerieANews, in an interview translated from Italian: “Marcos is a strong player, an Argentine international. "The big obstacle remains the price tag, as dealing with the Dutch is never easy. "Senesi is a profile that many teams pay attention to, but in the end nothing ever materialises.
