In the Real Madrid and Eintracht UEFA Super Cup game, UEFA will introduce semi-automatic offside

The match will be directed by Michael Oliver.

The European Super Cup game between Real Madrid and Eintracht will be overseen by English referee Michael Oliver, according to UEFA.

However, the key advancement is not in the referee, a seasoned Real Madrid player; rather, it is in football technology, which is continuing to grow, and Helsinki will witness the introduction of the semi-automatic offside system.

The use of this technique to identify improper positioning in the Champions League was also disclosed by UEFA.

Semi-Automated Offside Technology (SAOT) will make its debut in European club tournaments at the UEFA Super Cup, according to a UEFA release, the complete UEFA Women's European Championship finals, the knockout stage of the UEFA Women's Champions League, the finals of other club competitions, and so forth.

In a statement, UEFA Chief Refereeing Officer Roberto Rosetti said, "UEFA is continually seeking for new technical solutions to better the game and help the work of the referees."

This cutting-edge device will improve the consistency of the decisions and the speed at which Video Assistant Referee (VAR) teams can identify offside situations.

The system has been put into place at each Champions League stadium and is ready to be used in official matches.

According to reports, UEFA will use its latest semi-automated offside technology (SAOT) during Real Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt's Super Cup game in Helsinki.

It's UEFA's most recent effort to use semi-automated technology to aid referees in tracking offsides. Approximately a dozen cameras are said to be used to assist the system, which can locate nearly 30 different body spots on a participant while a game is in progress. It will be situated around the pitch's edge.

According to reports, SAOT will also be employed in the Champions League the following year. As confirmed by UEFA chief referee Roberto Rosetti, UEFA asserts that they have performed around 200 testing of the technology over the course of the previous two seasons and are now prepared for match play.

"UEFA is always seeking for innovative technical solutions to enhance the game and assist the referees in their work. The VAR teams will be able to identify offside situations thanks to this novel method, improving the flow of the game and the consistency of the decisions. The system is ready to be used in official matches and implemented in each venue of the Champions League.”
