We will cancel strike when bureau regards to our requests - Vice Chairman of LPG Marketers Association
The Vice Chairman of the LPG Marketers Association of Ghana, Gabriel Kumi, says his Association won't cancel its strike till they have gotten great correspondence from bureau.

The Gas Tanker Drivers Association and Petrol Tanker Unions initiated a plunk down strike on August 1, 2022, to commute home their interests over the restriction on the development of new Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) stations as well as stations currently under development and at different transformative phases.

As indicated by the associations the boycott has unfavorably impacted the majority of their managers.

They are requesting a quick lifting of the prohibition on stations which were at that point under development before the burden of the boycott in 2017, and the ensuing lifting of the restriction on development of new LPG stations.

Gabriel Kumi, talking on JoyNews' PM Express on Wednesday expressed that till Cabinet regards their interests and imparts in like manner, they will not be able to cancel the strike.

As per him, the strike has been in the offing for some time presently however did to come around because of the heads of the different affiliations encouraging their enrollment to practice tolerance.

"Do you know the times these drivers have endeavored to picket that we have stepped in to cancel these strikes? Multiple times. Without fail, we step in and say folks, how about we find out the thing the Ministry is doing, we should find out the thing the NPA is doing. How about we return to function.

"Presently, as a matter of fact, in the event that we endeavor to proceed to advise them to do that, a few of us will be butchered. We've gotten to that stage. So we should all pause, bureau has completed its gathering, it's finished. Until we see the correspondence it will be truly challenging for authority to return to individuals and let them know that return to work," he said.

In the mean time, bureau has lifted the prohibition on development of LPG outlets all through the country.

This is contained in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the LPG Marketers Association of Ghana by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) on August 3, 2022.

As per the assertion endorsed by the Chief Executive of the NPA, Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, "We are satisfied to illuminate you that Cabinet at its 35th Sitting, hung on August third 2022, has conceded an extraordinary regulation to permit the fulfillment of the development of abandoned LPG stations the nation over, that were impacted by the prohibition on the development and activity of new LPG offices in 2017."

The NPA subsequently mentioned, "all OMCs/LPGMCs who were impacted by this mandate to resubmit their applications to the Authority."
