Brighton line up move for RB Leipzig defender Angelino as possible replacement for Marc Cucurella
Brighton considering RB Leipzig's Angelino as replacement for Marc Cucurella The 25-year-old may leave the Red Bull Arena after the arrival of David Raum Angelino also attracted the interest of West Ham and German side Hoffenheim By Simon Jones for MailOnline Published: 07:37 EDT, 2 August 2022 | Updated: 08:46 EDT, 2 August 2022 529 shares 8 Viewcomments RB Leipzig left-back Angelino could be returning to the Premier League as Brighton's replacement for Marc Cucurella. With Cucurella close to a move to Chelsea after submitting a transfer request, the Seagulls are looking to fill that gap. And with RB Leipzig's recent acquisition of Germany international David Raum on a five-year deal from fellow Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, Spanish-born Angelino could be close to moving away. Angelino could be leaving the Bundesliga to go to Brighton as replacement for Marc Cucurella According to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, the situation has attracted the interest of Hoffenheim, who have hopes of replacing Raum with a loan deal for Angelino, and West Ham - although David Moyes has previously distanced himself from that link. However, with the Seagulls set to make a significant profit on Cucurella, who they purchased last year for £15.4m, they have the income and the space to buy big. It is believed Brighton have set a £50m price tag on Cucurella, and they are in talks with Chelsea, as the Blues have agreed personal terms with the 24-year-old. Brighton and Chelsea are continuing talks, with Cucurella's £50m move appearing more likely Angelino, 25, was previously on the books at Manchester City, playing six games for the Citizens. He has made 100 appearances across all competitions for RB Leipzig since joining them on loan in January 2020. He moved there permanently 13 months later in February 2021. However, the arrival of 24-year-old Raum at the Red Bull Arena on Sunday has led the Spanish left back to consider his future, and he may find himself back in the top flight of English football with Brighton. Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez is the only other Spanish player with the Seagulls, ahead of their Premier League campaign, which starts with a visit to Old Trafford on Sunday. ?‘Negotiations ongoing’: West Ham United target now ‘seriously considering’ moving to Bundesliga club - Romano
West Ham United have reportedly targeted Red Bull Leipzig’s Angelino this summer but Fabrizio Romano claims the full-back is now ‘seriously considering’ a move to another Bundesliga club. Angelino is currently in negotiations with Hoffenheim and Leipzig are willing to let the full-back leave this summer. Reports suggested this week that West Ham have shown an interest in the former Manchester City man but now it seems that the player is close to staying in Germany. Angelino has been a key player for Leipzig since moving from City but the German side have recently added David Raum to the squad. The 25-year-old has clearly fallen down the pecking order at Leipzig and looks set to leave. Angelino has enjoyed a successful period in Germany as he has put in some brilliant performances from left-back, most notably in the Champions League. And if the Hammers are interested in the full-back, they may have to move quickly to avoid missing out. West Ham reportedly look set to miss out on another left wing-back in Filip Kostic as Juventus have apparently overtaken them in the race to sign the Eintracht Frankfurt man. As the club could miss out on Kostic, it could push them to move their interest in Angelino forward to prevent them from failing to land another target for the position. Photo by Roland Krivec/DeFodi Images via Getty Images David Moyes has already let Arthur Masuaku leave the club and join Turkish outfit Besiktas on loan, so the left-back spot is an area the Scotsman may need to strengthen. TBR’s View: West Ham should try to hijack Hoffeinhem’s move for Angelino At just 25 years of age, Angelino still has his best years ahead of him and has shown what he is capable of in Leipzig.
