HOW COLD SHOWERS SAVED THOMAS TUCHEL FROM TRANSFER MARKET PERPLEXITY WHILE THE CHELSEA CURSE ENDURES

Chelsea's approach to transfers has appeared somewhat haphazard this summer, and Tuchel admits that staying calm in the midst of the transfer window has not always been easy. He elaborated. "We agreed on a small number of names early on in order to try to sign." But the number of names grew, and the number of names we discussed was limitless.

"It never stops and was occasionally confusing and distracting, but in the end, we were able to focus back on the names we mentioned in the first place to stay calm and not get distracted because opportunities arise." Sometimes you think an opportunity will present itself, but it does not. Someone is taking advantage of us in order to obtain a better contract elsewhere.

"I must say, it was quite turbulent here. Our training camp was filled with news, then no news, then new news, then the most recent news, a change of plans, and figuring out my role in all of this. But it was clear from the start - and I was proven correct - that Todd and Behdad wanted to do the right thing for Chelsea and this team.

"They are extremely ambitious, hardworking, and expect it from everyone. That was not a problem, but it was occasionally turbulent, distracting, and not 100 percent reliable "calm."

So, how did Tuchel deal with the transfer-market commotion? "It's easy to get lost in all the names and opportunities and end up playing a 2-7-1 or whatever." So you need to refocus, take a cold shower, and relax - or I will.

"Then you say, 'OK, let's go back to where we needed to go.'" What do we need for the squad, and what kind of personality and talent do we require?' This is roughly how it goes."

"Seeing us succeed in the market also calmed me down - there's been give and take for everyone," the German added. Chelsea's strength is calmness from within and without, and we need to regain that status."

Given Boehly's lack of transfer market experience as interim sporting director, it's perhaps not surprising that Chelsea hasn't signed every player targeted this summer. Matthijs de Ligt chose to leave Juventus for Bayern Munich, while Raphinha chose to join Barcelona despite having agreed terms with Leeds United.

A move for Jules Kounde fell through as well. Chelsea agreed on a fee with Sevilla for the centre-back but then backed out. As a result, Barcelona was able to sign a player before the Blues.

"Because Azpi (Cesar Azpilicueta) stayed - in the best position for Jules Kounde - these talks had an impact." "Tuchel explained why Kounde did not arrive when asked.

"It's also Trevoh Chalobah's position if we play in a back three. Marc can play on the left side of a back three, and Kalidou can play on the left side of a three. Thiago Silva, who isn't Benjamin Button and isn't getting any younger, despite how it appears at times.
